The titles of my games are becoming ever more imaginative. That’s right folks, a new ‘game’ has been released! One of my first adventures into the dusky realm of Actionscript 3: A card-matching (tile-matching, whatever) game. You can head right over here and play it.
There’s a twist to this tale though. There are two tile sets in the game, one is made up of abstract shapes and the other of friendly clip art. When you play the game you’ll be assigned a set at random. Then your score, number of clicks, and time taken are recorded through a cunning bit of PHP Actionscript interaction.
Why? Well I’m under the impression that people will do better at the colourful set of images than the abstract one. I figure that these recognisible objects and animals fit in better with our short-term memory than abstract shapes. They’re also a bit less ambiguous. So with a vague sort of hypothesis stated, all that’s left is to gather some data. Go play the game folks, and once I have enough data I’ll publish the results on this blog. A running collection of results will also turn up on the game page in due course.

yaaay games
I like it – quite tricky pictures to remember too, I feel like my brain is being exercised! which is good because I’m certainly not exercising it by reading books or revising or anything.
(ps. there’s a rogue apostrophe in your game instructions!)

Hehe, I’m surprised you had time to play with all the revisions! It’s not a very good game really. But making it helped to exercise my brain a bit =] The rogue has been removed, well spotted.
